Husson Advances to NAC Championship With 3-0 Win Over Maine Maritime
Bangor, ME - Husson University advanced to the NAC Championship game with a 3-0 win over Maine Maritime Academy. The Husson Eagles will seek their fourth straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) title when they face Caslteton State College on Saturday, November 7.
Husson’s Megan Clement (Jr., Brunswick, ME) scored the first goal of the game. Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) provided the assist off a quick restart with a touch pass to Clement. Mariners’ goalkeeper Lacey Jackson (Jr., York, PA) made the initial save but Clement collected the rebound and scored. The game’s second goal came 34:17 minutes into the first half notched by Megan LaJoie (Jr., Van Buren, ME). Bradford provided the assist by beating a defender and passing to LaJoie who scored the lower-left side goal. Clement collected her second goal of the day bringing the score to 3-0 off a strike thirty yards out. On the goal, Bradford contributed her third assist of the game with 12:46 left on the clock.
Maine Maritime’s Lacey Jackson recorded 16 saves against 29 shots. Husson’s Jen Plourde (Sr., Howland, ME) tallied two saves on the shutout and faced five shots.
Senior captain Kelsi Eiane (Harpswell, ME) and freshman Alexis Bennett (Freedom, ME) were selected to the NAC All-Tournament Team
With the win, Husson improves to 14-5 and Maine Maritime ends their season with a record of 10-7-1. The second seed Husson will travel to the first seed Castleton for the NAC Championship game Saturday, November 7. Game time is yet to be determined.
