Lady Mariners Run Past Lyndon State on Senior Day
Castine, Maine – Maine Maritime got goals from Katie Hutchinson (Dixfield, ME) and Emily Brogden (Union, ME) en route to a 2-0 win over Lyndon State College Sunday afternoon at Ritchie Field. With the tie MMA improves to 3-2-1 in NAC play and 8-6-1 overall. Lyndon State falls to 6-6-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the NAC.
The Lady Mariners took a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute when Katie Hutchinson (Dixfield, ME) gathered a combination of passes from Kelsi Eiane (Harpswell, ME) and Alexis Bennet (Freedom, ME) and blasted it with her left foot into the top left hand corner giving MMA the lead.
The Lady Mariners scored again in the 58th minute when Emily Brogden (Union, ME) finished off a pass from Callie Thompson (Windsor, ME) to increase MMA’s lead to 2-0.
Maine Maritime had 20 shots in the match while Lyndon State had 10.
Lacey Jackson (York, PA) recorded the win and the shutout for MMA making 6 saves on 10 shots. Samantha Smith (No. Haverhill, VT) took the loss for the Hornets.
