Manatt-Rogers scores twice in Lady Mariners 2-1 win over Thomas
Castine, Maine - The Maine Maritime Women’s Soccer team hosted the Terriers of Thomas College in a NAC contest Wednesday. The Lady Mariners won the match 2-1, getting both goals from sophomore forward Diana Manatt-Rogers (pictured left).
It was MMA who got on the scoreboard first when Diana Manatt-Rogers (Conway, MA) drove the ball from the right side of the box off the far post before it found the back of the net. Katie Hutchinson (Dixfield, ME) set up the MMA goal with a through pass to Manatt-Rogers. Thomas answered back with just 1:28 left in the first half when striker Karen Demers (Sanford, ME) broke free and dropped the ball over MMA keeper Lacey Jackson (York, PA) to knot the score at 1-1 going into the half.
The Lady Mariners went ahead 2-1 at the 54 minute mark when Lindsey Comeau (Medford, MA) slipped the ball into the 6 and Manatt-Rogers finished the pass for her second goal of the game. MMA dominated the game with 17 shots while Thomas finished with 6 shots on goal.
Lacey Jackson (York, PA) got the win in goal for MMA improving to 6-2 on the season. Jackson made 1 save on 6 shots. Lindsay Thornton (West Gardiner, ME) took the loss for Thomas giving up 2 goals.
Next up for the Lady Mariners (6-2-0) is an a home game against Lesley University on Saturday at 7:00pm, and next up for the Terriers (0-1-0) is an home game against Wheelock College on Saturday at 1:00pm.
