Lady Mariners lose to Lesley 2-1
Castine, Maine - The Maine Maritime Women’s Soccer team hosted the Lynx of Lesley University in a NAC contest Saturday. The Lady Mariners lost the match 2-1.
It was Lesley who got on the scoreboard first when Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, MA) headed the ball off of a corner kick from Cathryn Folkestad (Ipswich, MA). Lesley scored again minutes later when Jodi Fralick (Woburn, MA) blasted the ball by MMA keeper Lacey Jackson (York, PA) for an unassisted goal. MMA had a couple of opportunities to score later in the half, but Lesley keeper Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, MA) made some outstanding saves to keep the Lady Mariners off the board.
MMA closed the gap scoring at the 77 minute mark when Meghan McKay (Old Town, ME) headed in a cross from Diana Manatt-Rogers (Conway, MA). Lesley held off the Lady Mariners late in the game and escaped Castine with the 2-1 win.
Lacey Jackson (York, PA) took the loss in goal for MMA dropping to 6-3 on the season. Jackson made 4 saves on 14 shots. Hailee Lowe got the victory for Lesley making 10 saves on 14 shots.
Next up for the Lady Mariners (6-3-0) is an a home game against Becker College on Sunday at 3:00pm, and next up for the Lynx (9-0-1) is an away game against Husson College on Sunday.
