MMA Slips Past Johnson State 3-1

Maine Maritime scores three second half goals to earn NAC victory over the Badgers

Johnson, Vt. (September 23, 2007)

Johnson State College scored the games first goal but saw the visiting Maine Maritime Academy Mariners run off three straight scores to win going away 3-1 in North Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action on Sunday.

Amy Barrows (Vergennes, Vt./Vergennes) settled a nice crossing pass from Heather Bedard (Ferrisburgh, Vt./Vergennes) and then beat MMA keeper Lacey Jackson (York, Penn.) over her right shoulder to the far top corner for a pretty opening score.  The Mariners would roar back behind scores from Jessica Stahl (Bowdoin, Maine), Diana Manatt-Rogers (Conway, Mass.), and Katie Hutchinson (Dixfield, Maine) to get the win. The goal by Jess Stahl (pictured left) was the first of her career.

Jenna Wulfson (Shelburne, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) made a single stop the Badgers (4-5-0, 1-4-0 NAC) who will not play again until October 4th when they travel to Paul Smith’s College. Jackson also recorded one save for MMA who will host Thomas College on Wednesday, September 26 in their next game.
