HUSSON ADVANCES TO SEMI-FINALS
Bangor, ME The #2 seeded Eagles advanced to NAC Semi-Finals with a 4-0 win over #7 Maine Maritime Academy. Megan LaJoie (FY, Van Buren, ME) had two goals to pace Husson. Husson improves to 12-6 while Maine Maritime Academy finishes the season at 9-8.
LaJoie scored her first goal 12:58 into the game, on a nice individual run down the middle of the field. She fired a shot past Lacey Jackson (FY, York, PA) on the right side. LaJoie put Husson up 2-0 at the 20:25 mark in the first half when she cleaned up a defensive miscue.
Megan Clement made it 3-0 with 12:33 left in the first half. Clement dribbled the ball through traffic and found an open space on the left side of the goal and got it past Jackson on a tough angle.
Jackson finished with 5 saves against 15 shots. In the second half, she made back to back beautiful saves first coming out to block a LaJoie shot and then while on her back stopping Katie Nickerson (JR, Belfast, ME) from putting home the rebound.
Nickerson added a late goal off a nice assists from Amy Sanz (FY, Tyngsboro, MA). Tatyana Wolterbeek had 4 saves against 4 shots for Husson.
Husson advances to the NAC Semi-Finals and will host the winner of #6 Bay Path College, MA at #3 Castleton State, VT. The semi-final match up will be played on Tuesday, October 30th at 2:00 PM.
