Lady Mariners lose 1-0 to Elms College in Overtime
Castine, Maine - The Maine Maritime Women’s Soccer team hosted the Blazers of Elms College in a NAC contest Sunday afternoon. The Lady Mariners lost the match 1-0 and dropped to 9-7 overall and 4-6 in NAC play. Elms moves to 6-9-1 overall and 5-4-1 in NAC play.
Elms scored the only goal of the game 8 minutes into the first overtime when Alison Couture (Chicopee, MA) gathered a loose ball of a corner kick and lofted it over the MMA keeper for the game winner. Today’s win was important for Elms, securing the 5th seed in the upcoming NAC playoffs. The Lady Mariners slip to the 6th and will travel to Castleton for their first round playoff game.
Lacey Jackson (York, PA) took the loss in goal for MMA moving to 9-7 on the season. Shannon Donnelly got the win for Elms making 3 saves on 9 shots. Jackson made 7 saves on 19 shots in the loss.
