Lady Mariners beat Lyndon State 64-59
Castine, Maine --- Jessica Stahl (Bowdoin, ME) scored a career high 17 points as Maine Maritime defeated the Lyndon State College Hornets by the score of 64-59 in a North Atlantic Conference match-up Friday night at Margaret Smith Gymnasium.
MMA improves to 8-14 overall and 4-7 in the North Atlantic Conference while the Hornets drop to 8-13 overall and 4-7 in the NAC.
Maine Maritime got solid contributions from Sam Goda (Eliot, ME) who scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while Tatum Welch (Newport, ME) added 16 points and 9 rebounds. Katie Hutchinson (Dixfield, ME) was outstanding in the win dishing out a career high and school record 12 assists.
MMA held a 36-28 halftime lead and extended it to 17 points before the Hornets scratched back into the game. The Lady Mariners never relinquished the lead and won by 5-points. MMA shot 50% for the game and held the Hornets to 25% shooting.
Naomi White (Danville, VT) led the Hornets with 12 points while Danielle LaFont (Orleans, VT) chipped in with 10. Kelly Warren (Carroll, NH) led Lyndon with 9 rebounds, while Stephanie Barclay (Barre, VT) had a team high 5 assists.
