Lady Mariners cruise past Thomas 71-41
Waterville, Maine The Lady Mariners won their third straight conference game beating Thomas College 71-41 Tuesday evening. The Lady Mariners held a 40-24 advantage at half time and pulled away in the second half outscoring the Terriers 31-17. For the second straight game, the Lady Mariners had 12 people score and held Thomas to 30% shooting.
Megan Franklin (Skowhegan, ME) and Kaitlyn Leeman (Baileyville, ME) led the Lady Mariners scoring with 10 points apeice. Amethyst Cousins (pictured left) had the best night of her young collegiate career scoring 9 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Tatum Welch (Newport, ME) and Ashley Tilton (Lubec, ME) combined for 13 rebounds and played outstanding defense in the win. Amanda Barker (Waterville, ME) and Elizabeth Cote (Brewer, ME) were outstanding off the bench for the Lady Mariners.
Thomas junior guard Amy Miles (Mt. View, ME), led the Terriers with 12 points while Mallorie Blakney (Lawrence, ME) added 8 points.
With the win the Lady Mariners improve to 9-7 on the year and 4-1 in conference play and will be back in action January 28th when they host Husson College for a 7:30 tip-off.
