Maine Maritime beats Lesley 65-60
Castine, Maine – The Lady Mariners won their second conference game of the year with a 65-60 victory over the Lesley Lynx Friday night. MMA held a 36-28 advantage at half time and held off Lesley in the second half to secure the win.
Megan Franklin (pictured left) played outstanding for the Lady Mariners scoring 23 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and collected 7 steals. Kelsi Eiane (Harpswell, ME) also played well in the win scoring 11 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and had 4 theft, while Brittany Hunt (Hickory, NC) had 10 points and 2 steals.
The Lesley Lynx were led by Courtnie Leakeas (Lowell, MA), who scored 24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the loss. Brianne Caira (Pelham, NH) also played well in the loss scoring 12 points and grabbing 9 rebounds while Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, NY) scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
With the win the Lady Mariners improve to 7-7 and will be back in action January 19th when they host to Wheelock College. The Lesley Lynx fall to 7-5 and will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Husson College.
