MEDFORD, Mass. -- The top-seed Tufts University Jumbos dispatched of the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-16) to win in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship on Thursday evening at their own Cousens Gymnasium. More>

NCAA Regional Preview
The Lady Mariners, winners of the North Atlantic Conference conference tournament, will be the eighth seed in the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Regional Championships. The regional tournament will be hosted by Tufts University, located in Medford, Massachusetts. The regionals will begin on Thursday the 12th of November, with eight teams playing, and will conclude on Saturday the 15th, after the regional championship game. Lady Mariners Complete Three-Peat
Castine, Maine - The Lady Mariner volleyball team hosted the North Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday and came away victorious, beating UMaine Farmington and Husson University to win the championship. MMA beat UMF 3-0 and then ran past Husson University 3-0 to earn the NAC automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. More>

Four Lady Mariners named All-Conference
Maine Maritime outside hitter Chelsea Ward was selected the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in a vote by the conference coaches. Ward led the conference in hitting percentage (.493) while ranking second in kills per game (4.55) leading the Mariners to an undefeated 7-0 mark in conference play and top seed in the NAC Championship. MMA enters playoffs as top seed
Two-time defending champion Maine Maritime will be the top seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference Volleyball Championship which will begin first round play Saturday, October 31. The Mariners (18-5 overall) are currently unbeaten in conference play with one contest remaining on Thursday but have secured the top seed and a first round bye in the NAC Tournament. The Mariners will host the semifinals and finals on Saturday, November 7. More>

MMA cruised past Thomas
Castine, Maine - The Lady Mariner Volleyball team hosted The Thomas College Terriers for a conference match-up Thursday evening at Margaret Smith Gymnasium. MMA won the match 3-0 behind the trio of Chelsea Ward (Homer, AK), Amy Young (Cumberland, ME), and Kayley Rodriguez (Quincy, IL). More>
