Katrina Dagan
Head Coach

Katrina begins her eighth year coaching at Maine Maritime Academy and her sixth as head coach of women's volleyball. She also serves as head softball coach, and is an assistant coach with the Lady Mariner basketball team.

In her five year stint as head coach, Dagan has brought her team to the post season every year. Last season the Lady Mariners had a record breaking year. The squad finished with a 19-5 record, captured their first North Atlantic Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Along the way the team broke several school records and had multiple individual honors.

Becca Allen, Michelle Ferry, Ashley Tilton and Amy Young were named NAC all-stars. Ashley Tilton was also named the NAC Rookie of the Year and the NAC Tournament MVP. Casey Morey was selected to the NAC All-Tournament Team while Becca Allen and Nicole St. Pierre were named ESPN Co-SIDA Academic All-Americans.

Dagan has coached seven NAC All-Stars, including four time conference all-star Katie Clapham, and two Rookie of the Year players. The Lady Mariners have been in the top five nationally in aces per game over the past three years, and in 2004 MMA led the nation in service aces. In the 2006 campaign, Becca Allen was ranked #1 in the nation in aces per game.

Coach Dagan is optimistic about the 2008 volleyball season. "We lost several key players from last year's team, but the cupboards are not bare. We have a solid core remaining and these kids have always responded to and been motivated by challenges. In order to repeat as NAC Champs we will need major contributions from our returning players and our newcomers will have to be ready to step up and help out. It should be a fun and exciting season. We had an outstanding season last year, and I hope the players are ready to defend our NAC championship. We enjoyed tremendous support from our fans last season and we are looking forward to it continuing again this year."

Dagan is a 1998 graduate of Springfield College, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. While at Springfield, she was a four-year performer and captain for the women's basketball team. After graduation, she went on to earn her Master's Degree in Health Education and joined the women's basketball coaching staff at Springfield.

Prior to arriving at MMA, Katrina taught health at Chicopee High School (Chicopee, MA), while continuing to coach at Springfield. Here at Maine Maritime, Dagan also serves as the Senior Women's Administrator, and she oversees the Student-Athlete-Advisory Committee.
