Lady Mariner Volleyball beats Castleton and Husson
Bangor, Maine - The Lady Mariner Volleyball team went on the road and came home with two more conference victories Saturday. MMA beat Castleton 3-0 then knocked off Husson College 3-0 in a match that had playoff implications. With the two wins, MMA secures home court advantage throughout the upcoming NAC Playoffs. Senior setter Becca Allen had an outstanding day, leading the Lady Mariners to a 7-1 NAC record.
In the first match the Lady Mariners beat Castleton State College by the score of 3-0 (30-10, 30-18, 30-14). Amy Young (Cumberland, ME) led MMA with 12 kills. Becca Allen (Bucksport, ME) had 29 assists and 11 digs. Ashley Tilton (Lubec, ME) played well collecting 7 kills and 11 digs. Michelle Ferry (Princeton, ME) had 7 aces in the match. Alyssa Fortier had 5 assists and Jamie Lemieux had 4 kills in the loss for Castleton. The win improved MMA’s record to 13-5 (6-1 NAC) on the year.
In the second match of the day for MMA, the Lady Mariners defeated the Eagles from Husson College by the score of 3-0 (30-15, 30-27, 30-22). The win moved MMA ahead of Husson in the standings and secured home court advantage for the NAC playoffs. Becca Allen once again led MMA with 29 assists and 18 digs. Ashley Tilton had 11 kills and 18 digs in the win. Nicole St. Pierre (Baileyville, ME) was outstanding collecting 9 kills with no attack errors.
Next up for the Lady Mariners is an away tri-match against UMPI and Husson College on October 27th in Bangor.
