Lady Mariner Volleyball snaps Husson’s 10 game win streak

Castine, Maine - The Lady Mariner volleyball team hosted Husson College in a non-conference match up tonight and ran away with a 3-0 win. Amy Young (Cumberland, ME) dominated the match from start to finish, collecting 16 kills, 3 aces, 26 digs and 2 monster blocks. The win broke Husson’s 10 game winning streak and improved MMA’s overall record to 9-5 on the season.

In the match, The Lady Mariners beat Husson College by the score of 3-0 (30-27, 30-16, 30-23). Amy Young (pictured left) led MMA in kills (16), digs (26), and also finished with an attack percentage of .54 for the match. Michelle Ferry (Princeton, ME) played outstanding, adding 7 kills, 13 digs, along with 7 aces. Becca Allen (Bucksport, ME) had 30 assists and 5 aces while Kristi Gordon (Auburn, ME) finished with 4 blocks.

The win moves MMA to 9-5 on the season, while Husson falls to 13-5 on the year. Next up for the Lady Mariners is a home match against Unity College on October 10th at 7pm and Husson hosts Colby College on the 9^th.
