Lady Mariners go 1-3 at Colby tournament
The Lady Mariners traveled to Waterville, ME to compete in the Colby Invitational tournament on September 8th and 9th. They took on the Colby Mules, the UM Farmington Beavers, the Gordon Fighting Scots, and The Husson Eagles, and they came away with a 1-3 record for the weekend.

In the first game against Colby, the Lady Mariners lost 0-3 (16-30, 15-30, 12-30). This match marked the first time these two programs have met in Women's Volleyball. Leading the way for MMA was Amy Young (Cumberland, ME) with 7 kills, and 6 digs. Senior setter Becca Allen (Bucksport, ME) added 13 digs and 9 assists, while senior Casey Morey (Easton, MD) added 14 digs in the match.

In the second game the Lady Mariners beat the UM Farmington Beavers by the score of 3-2 (30-23, 20-30, 30-17, 13-30, and 15-11). The Lady Mariners were led once again by Amy Young who had 12 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore Michelle Ferry (Princeton, ME) had an outstanding match collecting 8 kills and digging 17 balls. Becca Allen had 20 assists, 9 service aces, and 8 digs.

In the third match against Gordon, the Lady Mariners hung tough against a very good Fighting Scots team but fell short in all three games (15-30, 28-30,12-30). Michelle Ferry led the way against the scots with 7 kills and 17 digs. Amy Young had 12 digs and 5 kills, while Allen contributed 15 assists and 13 digs.

In the final game that the Lady Mariners played in the tournament, they unfortunately came out on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline against the Husson College Eagles. Scores were 30-24, 25-30, 21-30, 30-19, and 13-15 with Ferry again leading MMA. She had 12 kills and 11 digs, along with 3 aces. Freshman outside hitter Ashley Tilton (Lubec, ME), posted 12 kills and 18 digs while setter Becca Allen had 34 assists, 21 digs and 6 aces.

For her efforts, Michelle Ferry was named to the All-Tournament team. Next up for the Lady Mariners is a non conference games against Unity College on September 10th.
