2008 Preseason Poll

Lady Mariners picked to finish 8th in the NAC

Two-time defending NAC champion Elms College was chosen by the softball coaches as the
league’s top team entering the 2008 season in a preseason poll. The Blazers, who finished tied for second in the West Division but swept through the NAC Championship, return seven starters including first team all-conference selection first baseman Christina Giampetruzzi and NAC Tournament MVP pitcher/outfielder Tammie Tremblay. Elms received 9 first place votes and 115 points.

Maine-Farmington received one first place vote, 103 points, after a 2007 campaign which saw the Beavers finish first in the East Division before falling to Elms in the tournament. UMF returns seven starters led by a pair of junior first team all-league selections pitcher/second baseman Sarah Defilipp and outfielder Lauren Overlock.

Husson College, who also received a first place vote, will lead a host of challenges in the new non-divisional format.
