Barker honored as NAC Player of the Week

MMA freshman pitcher Amanda Barker (Waterville, ME) got her career off on the right foot, helping MMA to a 2-0 start and contributing on the mound as well as at the plate. Barker got both of the Lady Mariners wins and had 19 strikeouts in just 10 innings of work. She had 11 k's in five innings against Fisher College breaking the school record for k's in a game. She also went 1 for 3 from the plate in the game with a run scored and an RBI. In the second game of the weekend, Barker pitched 5 innings picking up the win and struck out 8 batters in MMA's 3-1 victory over Umaine Presque Isle. Once again, she helped her own cause at the plate, going 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Along with the 19 k's, Barker did not give up an earned run in the 10 innings she pitched.
