Lady Mariners Capture Second Place in NAC Playoffs

MMA Earns Split With Beavers

Casey McCloskey picked up her 11th win of the season as the Mariners outlasted Farmington 5-3 in the nightcap of the double header, securing the #2 seed in the upcoming NAC Playoffs.

In the first game, Coye, the placed runner, moved over to third on a sacrifice by Kasey McPhail (Benton, ME) and scored when Dyer's bunt made its way through the infield unplayed in the ninth for the 5-4 win.

The Beavers had tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth when Coye doubled home two runs. Coye finished with a pair of hits as did McPhail and Timmreck.

McKenzie Burke (Wells, ME) homered for Maine Maritime with Nicole Poland (Damariscotta, ME) plating two runs with a single and Leah Jackson (Holden, ME) and Kayla Higgins (Sullivan, ME) each doubling.

Timmreck limited the Mariners to five hits over nine innings with three walks and three strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Mariners scored three times in the fifth and tacked on an insurance run in the seventh to take the 5-3 win.

After Farmington scored three times to take a 3-1 lead in the fourth, the Mariners bounced back with a Poland RBI double, a Sabrina Keach (Chesterville,ME) run-scoring fielder's choice and Casey McCloskey (Howland, ME) running home on a wild pitch to take a 4-3 lead in the fifth. An RBI single by Mallery Stanley (Standish, ME) in the seventh closed the scoring at 5-3.

Higgins slugged a pair of doubles in the win with Poland adding a pair of hits.

Coye recorded two singles with Barry and Timmreck each getting a run-scoring hit.

McCloskey went the distance for MMA with five strikeouts, while picking up her 11th win of the season.

Page took the loss for Farmington with a strikeout in five innings.
