Newton, MA - Senior Jayme Rautenberg (Waltham, MA) hit a two run home
run to right field in the fourth inning to break the game open for the
Lasers as they go on to win the NAC quarterfinal 3-1. It was not an
easy seventh inning, as the Mariners had two runners on base, but the
Lasell College defense held strong to hold on to the win. Rautenberg
went 2 for 3 with two RBI's and junior Laura Gallagher (Westwood, MA)
also went 2 for 3 with a double. Rookie pitcher Nicole Slader (N.
Smithfield, RI) pitched all seven innings, allowing only two hits and
striking out five.

The two Mariner hits came from freshman Nicole Poland (Bamariscotta, ME)
and Katie Quinby (Oxford, MA). Sophomore pitcher Jessica Whitaker
(Calais, ME) went seven innings, walking just one batter and allowing
nine hits.
