Mariners batter the Unity Rams 109-26
Castine, Maine - The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners had all 16 players score en route to a resounding 109-26 non-conference victory over the Unity Rams this evening. With the win MMA improves to 2-3 on the season while Unity drops to 0-8.
The Mariners got off to a fast start and just minutes into the game, they established a double digit lead. MMA played stifling defense and held the Rams to 12 first half points. The Mariners continued the onslaught in the second half and ran away with the largest margin of victory in the schools history (83 points).
Freshman Paul Campbell (Camden, ME) led MMA with 15 points, while Chad Paddock (Dayton, OH) contributed 14 points and 6 rebounds. Senior point guard Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, ME) scored 8 points and led the team with 4 assists. Maine Maritime shot 55.6% for the game and out rebounded Unity 51 to 36.
The Rams were led by Nate Kelly, who had 13 points while Bryan Allen (Baltimore, MD) contributed 6 points and 6 rebounds.
MMA will be back in action on Saturday when they host the University of Maine at Machias for a 3pm tip-off.
