MMA beats Lyndon State 94-83

DiFrederico scores his 1,000th point

Castine, Maine - Jake Manner (Frankfort, ME) led five Mariners in double figures as Maine Maritime went on to beat the Lyndon State College Hornets 94-83 Friday night in a conference match-up at Margaret Smith Gymnasium.

With the win, Maine Maritime improves to 8-14 on the season, and 4-7 in conference while Lyndon falls to 8-12 with the loss and 4-7 in conference play.

Jake Manner (Frankfort, ME) led the Mariners with 22 points and 8 rebounds while Jarred Sternbergh (Jonesboro, ME) poured in 19 of his own. Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, ME) chipped in with 18 points including his 1,000th of his stellar career. DiFrederico becomes the ninth Mariner to reach this milestone. Bryant Ciomei (Stonington, ME) and Paul Campbell (Campbell, ME) each had 12 points.

The Hornets, were led by Cesar Martinez (East Harlem, NY), who scored a team and game high 30 points and collected 9 rebounds in the loss. Brad Durr (Windham, CT) was Lyndon State’s second leading scorer with 21 points and grabbed a team high 12 rebounds. Jose Fortunato (Boston, MA) led the Hornets with 8.
