MMA uses strong second half to jump past UMPI

Castine, Maine - The Mariners improved to 8-7 on the season beating University of Maine at Presque Isle Saturday 82-55. MMA held the Owls to 21% shooting in the second half and blew open a 34-31 half time lead to secure the 27 point victory.

Adam Haskell (Winslow, ME) led the Mariners with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Neil Stewart (Rangeley, ME) chipped in with 13 points and 8 rebounds while Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, ME) added 12 points and Jake Manner (Frankfort, ME) tallied 11.

Ronald Spencer (Philadelphia, PA) led UMPI with 22 points, all of which came in the first half of play. Michael Latchford (Sterling, ON) contributed 10 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

With the win MMA improves to 8-7 on the year while UMPI drops to 2-13. Maine Maritime will be back in action on Monday when they host Husson College for a 5:30pm start.
