MMA HANGS ON TO BEAT FARMINGTON 63-57

Castine, Maine - The Mariners won their seventh conference game of the season against the University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday night 63-57. MMA held the Beavers to 28% shooting from the floor earning a key conference victory.

Maine Maritime was led by senior forward Neil Stewart (Rangeley, ME), who scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, collecting his 9th double double of the season. Chad Paddock (Dayton, OH) also played well in the win contributing 8 points and 8 rebounds while Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, ME) added 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. MMA out-rebounded UMF 39-33 en route to the victory. At half-time UMF led 32-30 but the Mariners outscored the Beavers 33-25 in the second half to pull off the victory.

Eric Lelansky (Portland, ME) led the Beavers with 15 points including 5-9 from behind the arc. Issac Hutchinson (Oakland, ME) scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds and Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) scored 10 points in the loss.

With the win, the Mariners improve to 10-12 (7-5) on the year while UMF drops to 11-13 (7-5). Maine Maritime will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Husson College for an 8pm start. UMF will be back on the court Saturday when they host Lesley University.
