Castleton beats MMA 77-69

Castine, Maine - Castleton improved to 13-7 on the season beating the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners 77-69. Castleton took a 33-32 lead into half time and knocked down timely free throws down the stretch to secure the 8-point victory.

Kevin Cayea (Red Hook, NY) led Castleton with 22 points and 3 steals while Chris Young (Narragansett, RI) dominated the glass collecting 18 rebounds along with 11 points. Joey Farley (Fairlee, VT) contributed 16 points while Richard Reilly (Manassas, VA) added 17 points and 10 assists in the win.

Adam Haskell (Winslow, ME) led the 4 Mariners in double figures with 18 points and 8 rebounds, while Derek DiFrederico (Millinocket, ME) added 13 points and 7 assists in the loss. Neil Stewart (Rangeley, ME) recorded another double double for MMA scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Jake Manner (Frankfort, ME) also had a double-double adding 10 points and 12 rebounds.

With the win Castleton improves to 13-7 (6-3) on the year. MMA drops to 8-11 (5-4) on the season. Maine Maritime will be back in action on Saturday when they host Johnson College for a 4pm.
