MMA Cruises to 43 Point Victory Over Umaine Augusta

Bangor, Maine - The Mariners won their first game of the season beating the University of Maine Augusta 96-53 on Monday night. The Mariners came out strong with a 26 point lead at half time and never looked back out scoring Umaine Augusta by 17 points in the second half. The team shot an outstanding 56.5% from the floor.

Four Mariners scored in double digits en route to the 43 point victory. Leading the Mariner offense was Derek Difrederico (Millinocket, ME), scoring 20 points, while shooting 73% from the floor, and going 4-7 from behind the arc. DiFrederico also contributed to his teammates offensive success with 5 assists. Jake Manner (Frankfurt, ME) tallied 15 points and had an impressive 11 rebounds. Tyler Pineo (Corinth, ME) contributed 10 points, and Paul Campbell (Camden, ME) racked up 12 points and 8 assists.

With the win, MMA starts the season 1-0 record. Maine Maritime is be back in action Tuesday November 19th as they host St. Josephs College of Standish, Maine.
