MMA cruises past Wheelock 74-61

Castine, Maine - The Mariners improved to 4-0 in conference play beating Wheelock College Saturday 74-61. MMA held the Wildcats to 40% shooting and out-rebounded them 38-30 to secure the victory.

Derek DiFrederico (pictured left) played outstanding leading the Mariners with 20 points 5 assists and 4 steals in 39 minutes of play. Neil Stewart (Rangeley, ME) chipped in with 17 points and 13 rebounds while Adam Haskell (Winslow, ME) added 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. MMA went into half time leading 43-27.

Sherard Robbins (Malden, MA) led Wheelock College with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots. Alex Thayer (Seekonk, MA) contributed 10 points and 4 assists, while Dan Puchala (Millbury, MA) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.

With the win MMA improves to 6-7 on the year while Wheelock drops to 1-13 and 0-3 in NAC play. Maine Maritime will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Thomas College for a 5:30pm start. Wheelock will be back on the court January 22^nd when they host Lesley University.
