MMA outlasts Lesley and moves to 3-0 in NAC play

Castine, Maine - The Mariners won their third conference game of the season beating Lesley University Friday night 86-81. The game was notched at 38 going into half time but that Mariners held on to win shooting 54% from the floor.

The Mariners had four players in double digits, led by Adam Haskell (pictured left) who scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while Neil Stewart (Rangeley, ME) and Jake Manner (Frankfort, ME) both tallied 17 points. Michael Wharff (Sangerville, ME) contributed 12 points in the win including 50% (4-8) from behind the arc.

Lesley Universitiy senior guard Joseph Chatman’s (Boston, MA) led all scorers with 25 points. Chatman also contributed 3 assists, and 3 steals while Jon Cruz (Haverhill, MA) contributed 12 points and 3 assists in the loss. Jesus Trejo (Methuen, MA) added 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

With the win MMA improves to 5-7 on the year and 3-0 in conference play while Lesley drops to 3-9 and 1-1 in NAC play. Maine Maritime will be back in action Saturday when they host Wheelock College. Lelsey will be back on the court Saturday January 19th when they travel to Husson.
