Since joining the Mariner Lacrosse program in 2005, Coach Lou Conte has led the Mariner's to a 10-10 record, including a trip to the North Atlantic Conference semi finals.

Over the past two seasons, the lacrosse team has acquired great recognition from the NAC and the USILA for it's performances. In 2006, the team was awarded the James "Ace" Adams Sportsmanship Award, a prestigious award given by the USILA to the team in the Northeast (Division I-III) that represents character and maturity on and off the field. There have also been six different players he has coached that have made the NAC All-Conference Teams over the past two seasons.

Conte is an assistant coach with the successful Mariner's football program which has accumulated an 18-10 record over the past three seasons and a trip to the ECAC North Atlantic Championship. Along with running the intramural programs at Maine Maritime, Lou also serves on the Regional Advisory Committee for District 1 Lacrosse which is responsible for choosing the teams for the NCAA Championship tournament every year.

Lou is from Agawam, Massachusetts where he graduated from Agawam High in 2001. He then went on to graduate from Springfield College with his Bachelor of Science in Movement and Sports Studies in 2005. While playing NCAA Division III football at Springfield College, Lou was a three-year letter winner, and helped the Pride become FFC Conference Champions in 2003 and 2002, attain an NCAA East Regional #1 Ranking in 2003, a NCAA #4 National Ranking in 2004, and become ECAC Champions in 2004.
