Mariners Improve to 2-0 with 26 Goal Onslaught

Freshman Andrew DiSalvo scores 8 goals in win

Castine, Maine -- Freshman attacker Andrew DiSalvo ’12 (Glastonbury, CT) had a 14 point afternoon as the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners routed the Thomas College Terriers 26-1 in a North Atlantic Conference men’s lacrosse game played Wednesday afternoon at Ritchie Field.

MMA (2-0, 2-0 NAC) scored at least 5 goals in each period and got goals from 8 different players on their way to the 25 goal victory. DiSalvo led the high powered MMA offense, scoring a career high 8 goals and 6 assists in the game. Senior Garrett Lake (Farmington, ME) had an 11 point day scoring a career high 7 goals and recording 4 assists. Chris Keiley (Holliston, MA) and Brian Corain (Berwick, ME) each had 6 points while Wade Mondoux (Berwick, ME) added 4 points. Keiley had 4 goals and 2 assists while Corain had 2 goals and 4 helpers. Freshman goalie Daniel Redmond (Westbrook, ME) made 17 saves, improving to 2-0 on the season.

For Thomas College (2-3, 1-1 NAC), Kolby Peckham (West Gardiner, ME) scored the only Terrier goal in the second quarter. Josh Colello (Yarmouth, ME) took the loss making 6 saves while giving up 11 goals. Derek Racine (Auburn, ME) gave up 15 MMA goals while making 11 saves in 38 minutes.

The Mariners' return to action Saturday when they host St. Joseph's College at 1:00 p.m.
