Golf Press release 9.23.07 Maine Maritime Finishes 5th in Colby College Golf Classic With a composite score of 258, the Maine Maritime Golf team finished 5th in the Colby College Golf Classic held on Sunday September 23 at the Waterville Country Club in Oakland, Maine. The tournament featured a modified scoring format that included two man teams. Holes 1-6 were played as best ball, 7-12 were played as alternate shot, and holes 13-18 were played as a scramble. The tandem of Michael Smith and Nathan Bears had the low score for MMA with a 74 for the tournament, which was played under perfect conditions. Other MMA scores were Mark Bailey and Jason Johnson with an 87, and the duo of Chris Johnson and Mike MacKenzie shot a 97. Husson College's Adam Packard and Chris Hamel shot a 71 to gain medalist honors while the Husson College team finished first for the team championship with a score of 225. MMA is again in action on Thursday September 27, when they travel to UMaine Presque Isle.
