NEFC All-Divisions Announced / 11 Mariners Honored
Chris Mitchell Named Bogan Division Offensive Lineman of the Year
McKenney Named Bogan Division Coach of the Year
The 2008 Maine Maritime Mariners enjoyed one of the most successful fall seasons in over a decade. One that saw them post a 7-4 overall record, a Bogan Division Title, and a trip to the NEFC Championship game.
Coaches from the New England Football Conference recognized eleven individual Mariner accomplishments. Leading the way was senior lineman Chris Mitchell - pictured right - (Skowhegan, ME) who was named the NEFC Bogan Division Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Joining Mitchell as a First Team Offensive selection were junior Running Back Jim Bower (South Paris, ME), and freshman Nick Bourassa (Jay, ME), who was selected as the Return Specialist. Selected to the Second Team Offense was junior Offensive Lineman Mike Vangelist (Sanford, ME), and sophomore Offensive Lineman Dan Weamer (Stamford, CT).
On the defensive side of the ball, senior Defensive Lineman Cody Andrews (Holden, ME), who collected 7.5 sacks on the year, was named to the First Team Defense. Receiving Second Team Defensive honors were Defensive Back Connor Callahan (Southington, CT), Linebackers Wade Mondoux (Berwick, ME) and Joel Chadbourne (Westbrook, ME), along with senior Defensive Lineman Steve Keroack (York, ME).
Head Coach Chris McKenney was named the Bogan Division Coach of the Year after leading his team to 7 wins and the Bogan Division Title.
