08' Awards Banquet

On January 19th, the 2008 Maine Maritime Academy football team came together to celebrate the 2008 season and the eight members of the senior class. Cody Andrews (Holden, ME), Matt Boobar (Stillwater, ME), Jon Farrin (Boothbay Harbor, ME), Chris Kates (Lisbon Falls, ME), Steve Keroack (York, ME), Rob Leighton (Auburn, ME), John Logus (Southington, CT), and Chris Mitchell (Skowhegan, ME) were all honored on the evening for their commitment to the football program over the past four years.

Along with honoring its seniors, the team also named its 2008 award winners. The Coaches Award was given to Chris Kates, while Jon Farrin received the Academic Award. Freshmen Joel Chadbourne (Westbrook, ME) was given the Hammer Hit Award, given to the player who made the biggest hit of the 2008 season. Defensive lineman Steve Keroack, earned the Lineman of the Year Award. Junior fullback Jim Bower (South Paris, ME) was named 2008 Offensive Player of the Year and defensive lineman Cody Andrews was named the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year.

Head Coach Chris McKenney announced the names of four players who will serve as captains for the Mariners in 2009. Junior quarterback Tyler Angell (Leeds, ME), junior fullback Jim Bower, junior linebacker Travis Fergola (Mexico, ME), and junior Cornerback Mike Riley (Milton, VT) will lead the Mariners next season.
