The Inaugural "Texas" Mariner Classic Golf Tournament sponsored by Tidewater will be held at The Woodlands Country Club / Palmer Course in The Woodlands, Texas
on Monday April 12, 2010.

Registration for the "2010" Texas Mariner Classic has officially opened. The Maine Maritime athletic department is excited to announce that an additional golf tournament will be added to their 2010 Mariner Classics slate at the Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas. "The Woodlands is a world renown country club, and we are very excited about the opportunity to be associated with them and the Palmer Course. This is a great opportunity for our department and a chance for the alumni and maritime industry members in the gulf coast area to join us in a new venture. We are thrilled to add this event down south and we look forward to working with the Texas alumni chapter," states tournament director Craig Dagan.
“The Maine Maritime Academy Athletic Department is excited about the opportunity to hold one of our Mariner Classic Golf Tournaments in the Houston, Texas area” states Jim Dyer, Maine Maritime Academy Director of Athletics. “We are particularly grateful to Steve Clements, President of the Texas Alumni Chapter, for initiating the concept of our coming to Texas next spring. We are also extremely appreciative of all of our alumni and friends across the country who have stepped forward to provide the sponsorship support necessary to make this event a reality. We look forward to a great tournament and that famous Texas hospitality”.
The Mariner Classic is a golf tournament that benefits the Maine Maritime Athletic Department and its student-athletes. Proceeds from the tournament are used to help provide the student-athletes at Maine Maritime Academy with a quality NCAA division III experience. The generous support offered by all is very much appreciated. "It never ceases to amaze us how many friends of Mariner athletics we have return to our tournaments every year. We are extremely grateful for all of the support provided, especially from the sponsors that have stepped up to make this event possible," states Dagan.
Tidewater, the Mariner Classic title sponsor, created the offshore marine service industry in 1955 with the launch into the Gulf of Mexico of the Ebb Tide, the first-ever energy production service vessel. Now, over 50 years and many vessels later, they remain the industry leader, boldly following the quest for oil and gas into increasingly deeper waters off of six continents while continuing a proven record of service to installations closer to land. The company's tradition of anticipating and responding to the worldwide needs of energy exploration is well known and respected in the industry.
