The 16th Annual Mariner Classic Golf Tournament sponsored by Tidewater will be held at The Dunegrass Golf Club in Old Orchard Beach, Maine on Monday June 7, 2009.
Registration for the 2010 Mariner Classic has officially opened. The Maine Maritime athletic department is excited to announce that the tournament will be staying at the Dunegrass for the forseeable. The Dunegrass is considered to be one of the finest courses in the state of Maine and played by people throughout New England. "The Dunegrass is a great golf course with exceptional banquet facilities, and we are very excited about being associated with them for our event " states tournament director Craig Dagan.
"We look forward to the 2010 event, and we are already working hard to make sure that it becomes bigger and better than last year. It is our goal to get more companies in the maritime industry involved with the tournament. With the help of our tournament committe and some prominant alumni, we hope to bring this event to another level" says Dagan.
The Mariner Classic is a golf tournament that benefits the Maine Maritime Athletic Department and its student-athletes. Proceeds from the tournament are used to help provide the student-athletes at Maine Maritime Academy with a quality NCAA division III experience. The generous support offered by all is very much appreciated. "It never ceases to amaze us how many friends of Mariner athletics we have return to this tournament every year. We are extremely grateful for all of the support provided, especially from the 23 sponsors from last years event." states Dagan.
