2007-2008 Scheel Scholars
The late Henry A. Scheel of Rockport, Maine was one of America's most respected naval architects and yacht designers. During his long and distinguished career, Mr. Scheel produced more than 250 complete designs which have been utilized by thirty builders of sailboats and other craft in the US and Europe.
To express his high regard for Maine Maritime Academy, in 1994 Mr. Scheel left funds to permanently endow scholarships for students in the three upper classes who best exemplify intellectual curiosity and achievement.
In 2007-2008, two Mariner student athletes were selected as Scheel Scholars. They are:
Rebecca Allen: Women's Volleyball. Senior from Bucksport, Maine. Recognized as the Scheel Scholar for International Business and Logistics.
Jo-Ann Provencher: Women's Basketball. Senior from Quebec City, Canada. Recognized as the Scheel Scholar for Marine System Engineering.
Congratulations to Rebecca and Jo-Ann
